Avon Tyrrell Latest 13th April 2011

If we did all the things we are capable of doing; we would literally astound ourselves.- Thomas Edison

Inspiring - making somebody feel more enthusiastic, confident, or stimulated; a powerful word and used often by our staff and part of our ethos when working with groups or individuals. This is one of our key pillars for outdoor learning and that is to inspire those who use Avon Tyrrell to want to do more and to learn more; be it adventurous or environmental activities, living with a group, self-reliance and much more; but without presenting information in a formal manner. This we believe is something we are good at, but accept we must continue to work on and that we will always be learning as expectations and needs of users change. Maybe instead of the daft spam we get every time we publish our blog someone out there may venture an opinion on the importance of outdoor practitioners inspiring learning whilst working with groups or individuals?

And last week we inspired 20 young people to start their journey towards the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award with our first meeting at Avon Tyrrell for the New Forest Open Centre. Those who attended started their skilled section and spent some time learning to paddle canoes and kayaks. We have plenty more interesting evenings planned so if you are interested in joining our group please contact Suzanne or Nicola via the details at the bottom of our Blog.

Easter holidays are now upon us and we have lots of children enjoying our fundays, more information can be found on our website or you can contact us on the details below:

It’s a great way to entertain the children over Easter and they have a wonderful opportunity to learn and experience new opportunities at Avon Tyrrell.

Site Update

We are very pleased to see that our Reed Bed has begun to spring to life and all is working well. Also the final touches have been made to our pathways and fishing swims to improve accessibility to our activities.
